Bell’s Cove Four Square
This 1880s Four Square home underwent a major transformation to restore its original charm while improving function for modern living. We tackled significant rot, replaced compromised sections, and installed a structural laminated veneer lumber (LVL) beam to open up the main floor — creating a spacious, connected kitchen and living area. Large Kohler windows were added to take full advantage of the cove views, bringing the outside in through all seasons. The exterior was updated with new cedar shingles and rebuilt trim details to stay true to the original character. We also reimagined the old woodshed, rebuilding a similar addition on a new insulated slab to house a main-floor bathroom and laundry. Inside, the exposed LVL beam, wrapped in reclaimed longleaf yellow pine, adds warmth and a dramatic centerpiece to the newly opened space.
